SOFIA UNDERGROUND

През 2017 година фестивалът за пърформанс арт Sofia Underground отбелязва 20-та годишнина от своето първо издание с програма в дните от 24 април до 1 май на различни локации в София, a Културният център на СУ е партньор в реализацията на събитието.

Sofia Underground започва през 1997 г. като серия от пърформанси, разгънати в един дълъг хепънинг. С времето фестивалът се превръща във форум, събитие, което представя и дебатира съвременно изкуство в интеракция с независимата сцена. Една среща, в която млади и утвърдени, местни и интернационални артисти могат да експериментират, творят, обменят и колаборират спонтанно на мига. Един времеви-пространствен континуум с уникална собствена енергия и атмосфера.

 

СТО / HUNDRED

Създаден преди двадесет години и възроден преди десет, през 2017 фестивалът за пърформанс изкуство Sofia Underground ще фокусира темата си върху времето. Времето като сила, като фактор или като проблем, но най-вече като въпрос от лично, обществено и артистично естество и абстракция.

Продължителност: 20 – 30 минути

„ИсП“ е иронична нонсенс презентация/толк, посветена на бъдещия тренд в бг-арта, наложен от младите български кураторки – Прехода. Надявам се вече да са изсмукали комунизма до дупка най-сетне! Все пак, убедена съм, че са забравили за една от най-светлите арт фигури на Прехода – Маестро Принц Папа Жан. Иконичен за миналото, представителен за настоящето, мистериозен/предвидим като бъдещето!

Пърформанс, 2016, Вълко Чобанов

Продължителност: 60 – 80 минути

Пърформансът ще се развие като обедини телевизионно предаване, в което участват гости от публиката, и некачествен пърформанс арт на един лош пърформанс артист. Случването ще смесва жанрове и разглежда различни теми. Пърформансът ще обърне внимание на различни съвременни културни явления и събития в България и аналогични на тях по света; ще миксира реална информация и документални кадри с преправена такава и ще включва минималистичен абсурден хумор.

Видео-проектът Ways of Something включва 4 отделни части, създадени в периода 2014 – 2016. Проектът представлява компилация от едноминутни видеа от различни уеб-базирани артисти, които се занимават с 3D рендериране, създаване на гифове, филмови ремикси, уеб-камера пърформанси и уебсайтове – с цел да представи какафоничните условия на художествено творчество в пост-интернет ерата. Куриран и компилиран от Лорна Милс, това е съвременен римейк на популярните филмови епизоди на BBC Ways of Seeing, създадени от изкуствоведa Джон Бърджър въз основа на собствената му книга със същото заглавие, които изследват, най-общо казано, как гледаме изкуство. Крайният художествен продукт, в резултат, функционира като изкуство за изкуството за телевизията за интернет.

Лорна Милс е канадски визуален артист. Работи в сферата на нет арта и новите медии. Името й е утвърдено по света чрез анимациите, видео арта и гифовете, които прави. Активно представя творбите си в самостоятелни или групови изложби още от началото на 1990-те. Тя е от основателите на галерия Red Head в Торонто. Зад гърба си има редица кураторски проекти, реализирани на различни места по света, като последният от тях е именно Ways of Seeing.

SOFIA UNDERGROUND

In 2017 Sofia Underground Performance Art Festival marks its 20^th anniversary with a special program in the days between 24 April and 1 May, carried out at various locations in Sofia. The Culture Center of Sofia University is among the main partners of the event.

Sofia Underground started in 1997 as a series of performances unfolding in a long happening. With time, the festival has evolved into a forum, an event that showcases and debates contemporary art in interaction with the independent scene. A meeting where emerging, established, local and international artists can experiment, create, exchange and collaborate spontaneously on the fly. A space and time continuum with it’s own unique energy and atmosphere.

 

HUNDRED / СТО

Created twenty years ago, revived ten years ago, the festival for live art – Sofia Underground will focus in 2017 on the topic of time. Time as force, as a factor, or as a problem, but mainly as a question of personal, social or artistic matter, and abstraction.

AATT-PMPPJ is a non-sense ironic presentation/talk on what is going to be the art trend according to young female Bulgarian curators the next 10years – the post-communist transition period. As I hope they’ve drained the shit out of the communist past at last! Still, I guess they forget one of the shiniest artfigures of The Transition –  Maestro Prince Papa Jan. Iconic for the past, representative for nowadays, mysterious/predictable as the future itself!

Performance, 2016, Valko Chobanov

Duration: 60 – 80 minutes

This performance aims to develop combining a TV show, in which representative of the audience will take part, and a law-quality performance art of a bad performance artist. Its realization will happen as a mixture of different genres as well as of various topics. The performance piece will pay attention to some of the contemporary cultural phenomena and events in Bulgaria and also to some analogical to them from around the world; it will mix real information and documentaries with faked ones and will include minimal absurd humor.

Duration: 60 minutes

The screening is realized as part of the ON! Media Arts project of eXAF.org 

Ways of Something consists of four separate parts, created in the time period 2014-2016. The project consists of one-minute videos by network-based artists who commonly work with 3D rendering, gifs, film remix, webcam performances, and websites to describe the cacophonous conditions of artmaking after the internet. Curated and compiled by Lorna Mills, this is a contemporary remake of the popular BBC series created by art theorist John Berger (Ways of Seeing, based over Burger’s book, and exploring, basically, how we look at art). It is, in effect, art about art about television about the internet.

Lorna Mills is a Canadian visual artist, working on the field of net art and new media art. She is renowned around the world through her animations, video art and gifs. Lorna Mills has actively exhibited her work in both solo and group exhibitions since the early 1990’s. She is also one of the founders of Red Head Gallery in Toronto. She is also a new media art curator, realizing several projects around the world, and hermost recent curation project is exactly Ways of Something.
